This is little Dakota Ortiz at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital on the last day of his chemotherapy. The lovely young lady giving him a big hug is his little sister Madison. Dakota had won his war against cancer and to the victor go the spoils!
In this victory the spoils came in the guise of a Toys-R-Us shopping spree to the tune of $2,500.00! . Accompanied by his Dad Max and his Mom Laura, Dakota arrived at the Palm Desert Toys-R-Us in a beautiful Limousine courtesy of West Coast Transportation owner Thomas Walsh.
Once inside the store Dakota was a bit shy and reluctant to begin his shopping until Dad placed him into a great looking pedal car. Once he got the hang of it, Dakota was driving up and down the aisles pointing to the items he wanted. Mom and Dad were close behind getting quite a work out loading the items into the numerous empty shopping carts that Dakota managed to fill to the brim.
When it was time to check out, Dakota perched himself on the counter and helped the cashier run the items through the scanner. When all of his new purchases were loaded for transportation home, we filled the inside and trunk of the big limo and the complete bed of my Dodge Ram pickup!
Congratulations on your victory against cancer Dakota and on your wonderful trip to Toys-R-Us. All of us at The Debbie Chisholm Memorial Foundation wish you a long and happy life, you more than deserve it.
