November the 12th was a happy day for 33 children
undergoing treatments for cancer at Loma Linda
University Children’s Hospital. Board members and
volunteers for the Debbie Chisholm Memorial
Foundation (DCMF) came bearing more than $7,000 in
gifts made possible through donations received from
the Riverside Sheriff’s Association and the San
Bernardino County Safety Employees Benefit
Association.
Gifts for these children fighting for their very
lives included 37” Flat Panel LCD Televisions, Xbox
360 Elite, Bose Sound Dock Systems with 16 GB
IPods, Tickets to Knotts Berry Farm with spending
cash, Hewlett Packard Laptop Computers fully
loaded, Portable DVD Players with Movies and much,
much more. The kids were absolutely thrilled with
their gifts, many of which their families had been
saving money to buy for Christmas or a birthday.
DCMF has quickly become the charity of choice for
Loma Linda choosing our small charity over more
well known wish organizations such as the
Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Starlight
Foundation. The Loma Linda staff knows that they
can call us anytime day or night for a special
request for a sick child and we will respond to
that request immediately!
None of this would be possible without the
financial assistance we receive throughout the year
from benefactors such as RSA and SEBA. Our sincere
thanks to those fine organizations and the
thousands of their members who have supported DCMF
since 1994.
